Where is the ideal place to store paint?

I'm planning on getting an outdoor storage shed and I was going to store some of my paint cans in there. I live in So. Calif. and I am concerned about the heat during Summer months affecting the paint over time.Where is the ideal place to store paint?

For years, I have used old refrigerators scrounged from discard piles on the curb. The insulation cuts down on the threat of overheating, and freezing, both of which can ruin the paint.

I keep it in a storage shed to prevent direct sunlight causing heat buildup, and open the door during warm days in the winter to heat the contents, and open the door at night on cooler nights during the heat of the summertime.

For 40-some years it has worked OK for me. I suspect that your California location does not require any wintertime heat added, but in the summer, even with the insulated fridge, you don't want the added heat of direct sunlight, so locate the fridge inside the shed, away from the east and west walls.

Also, for the shed out in the sun, make sure you have some ventilation openings [low on the wall for cooler air intake, and high on the wall for hot air exhaust] in the shed walls. Be sure to screen any opening to prevent wasps, hornets, bees. and other insects from nesting inside the shed.
it will cook in the shed....needs to be in a room temp inviorn...
