What is a good color to paint a small living room?

This lr has two windows but not much sun comes through this side of the house and it is not a big living room. I was thinking a marroon but it used to have a maroon color wallpaper on the walls from the previous owner and it made the room look dark.... but I really like a maroon color. What is a good color to paint a small living room?
Lighter colors are definitely better for smaller rooms. A light warm golden yellow would probably look really good. If you love the maroon color use that as your accent color with accessories, pillows, curtains. I have maroon and yellow in my master bathroom and it looks really elegant and expensive, but it's not!!What is a good color to paint a small living room?
Unfortunatly maroon will not only make the room dark, it will make the room feel and look smaller.

What do you like about maroon? The richness? The warmth? The redish undertone? There are other ways to achieve what you like about maroon with out using something that dark. Maybe you could even add maroon to your furnishings and accessories instead of on the walls.

If you want a rich color like maroon, here are a few lighter suggestions that would help lighten the room and make it feel a little larger (All are sherwin williams colors you can locate on the website and match to your own brand):

A warm brown with rosey undertones like

Interface Tan (SW 6059)

Accent with Moroccan Brown (SW 6060)

A rich gold like

Blonde (SW 6129)

or Restrained Gold (SW 2129)

A warm Taupe like

Temparate Taupe (SW 6037)

or Truly Taupe (SW 6038)

Good luck and have fun!
i just painted my sitting room a color called 'beef bullion' however it has a wine or maroon undertone to it - i love it however why dont you think about 'glazing' you walls it will deepen the existing color without being SOLID...check it out
Darker colors make the room appear smaller. If you are really stuck on the maroon color maybe paint one wall maroon (one of your smaller walls that a window is on) and the rest of the walls a lighter color. Lighter colors make the room appear bigger.
I would not go with maroon, for a small living room with not a lot of light. It will make the room appear smaller than it is. Try going with a lighter neutral color, your browns and beiges are the best bet.
I think skyblue is good one, it looks cool%26amp;quiet.

it makes ur room very peaceful.
I agree witht the first person. Darker colours do make the room look smaller. I think pale warm colours would do the trick to make your room look bigger and brighter. Colours such as cream and peach would probably work well.
my living room is a really pretty yellow. i would call it golden yellow. (not too buttery) it was there when i moved in.

Not something i wouldve picked, but now i absoulutely love it.

In fact, my mother just painted her living room the same color because it brightened the room so much.

My bedroom is a sage green which i love, (its very soothing)

marroon may be too dark and depressing if you are already not getting a lot of light in there, but my mothers kitchen is a dark reddish/ marron color, and its beautiful, however, she has a gigantic window (covers the entire wall) that faces the backyard, and gets tons of sunlight, so that may be why.

good luck!!
