She wants her room pink but I don't want to over kill her room with pink paint, I would like something that my 7 yr old daughter can help me do. Have fun and I hope to get some great ideas!!!!I am looking for a different way to paint my daughters room?
My parents painted my room lavender when I was a kid and then added pink polka dots of differing sizes to two of the walls. I thought it was very cool.
You could do a variation of the theme, maybe by putting pink checkerboard on the bottom third or something like that. You could even do white walls with pink highlights or even go a subtle pink with salmon or a light coral.I am looking for a different way to paint my daughters room?
Go with neutral wall colors. Add some great pink accessories like pillows or window treatments. When she is tired of pink just replace the accessories.
well a fun idea is paint the top half of all of the wall a dark shade of purple. then you could add a matching border in the middle of the wall and under the border you could sponge paint the room. you get some pieces of rough sponge and you can pick about four colors that match the border and you and your daughter and have fun dipping the sponges in the paint and designing her room. you can help her pick the colors and you can use a pink that she likes. it looks really pretty when its finished and its really fun to do and it won't use a lot of paint.
Option 1
Paint only two walls pink. (that is what I had when a was little)
2.
Paint the walls pink, and take white, or purple and sponge paint on top of it.
3.
Paint two walls with Chalk board paint and the other two pink. That way you have a nice contrast, and she will have fun doodling on the walls.
:)
you can use pink cloth and hang it like curtains
you and your dauther can hang some little sweet like plastic flowers , dolls etc.. by sewing or useing pins
once i used a really big pink paper to cover the white wall then i cut out the paper in a text or letter shape in the middle of it .so it was like i had a pink wall with a white text in it , i liked it .
maybe u can do stripes with will entend to cost alot of money acorrding to how much paint u get .or u canu geta d a faires themes check out little gurl rooms.
Try marking a horizontal line in about the middle of the wall, all the way around the four walls. On the bottom half, paint it a medium pink, and on the top half, paint it a much lighter pink. This gives the illusion of a bigger room, and it's much easier on the eyes than a solid one-color pink room would. She can help by picking out her own stencils (flowers, butterflies, etc.) and stenciling them on the walls. A white ceiling would give the room a clean look and would help even out the pinkness. Good luck!
when i was little, we redid my room, and i think a cute way to do it, is take a pink and paint 2 walls pink and like 2 walls another color, otherwise if you want to do just pink, then i think it looks kind of cool if one or two walls are like that sponge paint kind of thing, where you paint it and then you take a sea sponge and like push it on the walls and it makes a really cute pattern, thats pretty cheap to, and if you screw up you can just paint over it.
paint it plain pink, then copy her fave charatcers from print outs on the computer..she can help paint in the bigger spaces with little tester pots of emulsion..use a black permanent marker for the outlines..very effective and tons of fun...
a fairy with 'real 'TAFFETA WINGS AND GLITTER LOOKS GOOD..(OOPS CAPS LOCK)
or she can pva glue on some stars and hearts at random and feel like she took part in HER room..
also, what mine had, use some fur trim(PINK!) make a large square with masking tape..and either let her fill it with postcards and photos (keep the room tidy and less set upon with pictures) or ...paint the square with black board paint and she can chalk on it...
if you dont want it all pink,
use masking tape and put pale purple in between... in block stripes....ORRR....draw circles and let her choose random colours to paint them...
Let her paint her room in a shade of lilac it isn't pink and it isn't purple either.
Paint it using stripes. White and pink. Or green and white and decorate it with pink. Give it a garden feel. Lost of pink flowers, use them on her lampshade, hot glue them on. Us a pink boa on her mirror. Use white sheers for window and get butterflies and flowers and glue or sew them in place. Put her bed on a slight platform , canopy above and use something at the top to form the look of a crown, fit for a princess.
Do sponging in white and pink. Then it will not be over powering and she can help. You can also do rolling with cloth.
If your daughter wants pink then try to paint some fairies with pink dresses and then you can add other colors with it.. also a cute idea is go online and get some fiber Optics.. you can get some of the smaller kits for about $20 and make the dress or fairy wand sparkle... it is a fun thing to do and is safe... One thing is for sure you can give her pink without painting a wall straight pink... there are many stencils or even wall decals if you are not able to find the right stencils.. Have a painting or decorating party.. ask your friends to come over and help and provide lunch with a party atmosphere you may get more ideas... ie: if your daughter prefers puppies or kitty walls you can make the collars of them pink with fiber optic sparkles.. good luck most of all have fun... :) decorating should be fun... and you can always paint over if she outgrows her ideas... :)
try some sponge painting or stencils. that should cut the pink. my seven year old helped sponge her room and it worked out great.
I would paint the lower half of the room pink and paint the top white. Let your daughter pick out a border to divide the two. She can always help paint some as well.
Do the trim in a semi-gloss pink as an accent. Do the walls whatever color goes with pink and the ceiling white. You might want to go with a darker pink than light to get it to stand out.
Give it a couple of coats to really make it shine.
i think if she likes pink pain her room pink do it in a light color you can try panting start in the middle of the wall all the way around and leave the top white use colorful pictures to hang or her choice of what she wants to hang in her room it will look nice
You could paint the bottom half of the room pink and the top half white or yellow. At the ';line';, add a border or stick ons that she can help you with. Or have each of her family members and friends put their handprint around the ';line'; of pink and white paint and add their name. Save room for new friends.
Try a real pale shade of pink - that way it's not so overwhelming. Use a border; those by 3M, stencils or just sponge painting something where a border would be. A border will draw your attention away from all the pink. You could also use some of this border on a dresser. Paint the closed a darker shade of pink (for a contrast). Lamps, with bright colored shades, will go great.
I bought a floor lamp, at Home Depot, for my grand daughters (for their 'hang out room'). It has 3 lights with covers that resemble pin wheels - each pin wheel is a different bright color and it would fit great in any girl's room.
You could paint her walls like a garden, with flowers and just have fun painting whatever you like on her walls. (Ex-animals, trees, ponds, flowers, etc.) Or you could let her paint her own walls. Give her different color of paint, that you can pick out, and make sure all the floors and furniture are covered. Let her do what she wants to her room. But make sure you help her with the high places.
