Can you paint baseboards without removing them?

Our white baseboards %26amp; trim are chipped and yellowed--very much in need of a paint job! Can I repaint them without removing them from the walls? In a carpeted room? How?Can you paint baseboards without removing them?
we repainted every basebaord in our house carpet or no carpet!! if we can do then you most likly could to!!!

ok step one become friends with painters tape

put the tape at the edge of the carpet - this is a very important step. push the tape down on the carpet so you can see the seem then put tape on the walls above the baseboards and next to the trim

step two - paint with a paint brush DO NOT USE A ROLLOR THEY DO NOT WORK WHAT SO EVER!! uuummm as far as paint brush size use one a little smaller than your trim

step 3 - get busy painting

step 4 - carefully and slowly pull the tape awayCan you paint baseboards without removing them?
I just take a brush and paint them, but I am a 37 year experienced painter..I use no tape or cardboard which gives you false confidence..when the paint rolls off of the edges of it onto the carpet..especially if you slide it... I suggest getting a good 2 inch sash tool(brush) and use a steady hand..Blue tape on the carpet will cuase problems too..You can use it on the wall part if you crae..but I have no need to..
yes. First, sand the baseboard lightly.

Then, get a hard flat surface, either a thick cardboard or something like that. A strip of plastic - something firm enough. Make sure it is a bit long.

Then, hold it on the ground and push it up against the baseboard trying to get under the baseboard. Paint it while you are holding the carpet down that way. It is a slow process - you need to hold the board down till the paint is a bit dry but it is worth it.
At the paint store you can get an edging tool that keeps your brush off the carpet. Stick with a similar color, though, to minimize the appearance of any areas you can't reach. Use a dropcloth and clean edge frequently.
