All paints generally fall into one of two categories. They are either oil/solvent based or water/acrylic based. You can tell which is which by reading the can instructions. If they say clean brushes with white spirit then it is an oil/solvent based paint and if it says clean with water then it is a water based paint.
99 times out of 100 you can mix any two water based paints together or any two oil/solvent based paints together without adverse effects. Of course if you mix a matt finish with a shiny finish you will get a finish somewhere in between.Can you mix kitchen and bathroom paint with normal paint?
Kitchen and Bathroom paint is Soft Sheen and matt emulsion is standard emulsion. Buy white Soft Sheen to add to the Kitchen and Bathroom paint, DO NOT add standard Matt emulsion.
The interior designer who said you can is wrong.
If you like a colour on a colour chart, buy the one 2 shades lighter. Apart from Farrow %26amp; Ball, they always come out darker.
If you don't believe me, try it, stand back, catch the light on the wall and then say to yourself ';Fup me, what a patchy mess';
Absolutely. Just make sure to keep a little leftover, so that you can have it matched at the paint store, should you have to touch up later.
Before you do it, though, take a picture off of your wall (or move an appliance) and paint the wall area behind it. Let the paint dry, so that you can really see what the color will look like once it is dry and also with the lighting in your kitchen. You can put the picture back over the area to conceal it while you decide.
Good luck %26amp; have fun!!
Is the coloured paint gloss, semi, flat? Is the plain white a ceiling paint?
I'd guess yes but don't quote me on that!
I agree with Callie
