I want to paint them burgundy or merlot since the floor is taupe. I had the panel walls painted last summer and they look great. Since this to me is the same material (though the cabinets look a little more glossy), I thought I could get the same if not better result. Any suggestions? Can I paint my kitchen cabinets that are made of panel board; the outside doors look just like wall panel?
Yes it is ease. Go to home depot and have then tint the glidden gripper primer gray. Gray is the best color to use for dark colors. If you paint burgundy don`t let them tint the primer red. You will put on more top coats to make it cover. I worked at depot and glidden has a code for different shades of gray for different dark colors. All so gripper is the best primer for any job inside or out side. One thin coat of primer and two thin coats of top coat. Don`t lay it on thick! It will streak. Can I paint my kitchen cabinets that are made of panel board; the outside doors look just like wall panel?
Yes you can paint them....I would recomend a good quality primer...(I prefer BINN )...one that can be applied on glossy surfaces. You can then paint them as you would any other panel boards...In the kitchen it is recomended to use a semi-gloss or gloss paint so that cleaning is not an issue.
I would suggest lightly sanding the surface with a finer grit sandpaper and then priming them before painting. I have cabinets that are similar and I will be painting mine also. This is what I was told to do.
Love the colors you chose, good luck :)
no because the wood will warp and then you will have to pay for new ones, but thats just me but realy you should do what you want to do.sir1vamd
